The Pretty and the Not So Pretty |
Get away with the Lord.
|
Prayer for me has been a journey. It's had a pretty side, and a not so pretty side. For more than two decades I've enjoyed God's Word, journaled my heart, listened for His voice, rejoiced in His responses. That's the pretty side. But there's been the other side, too. The side where I've wondered if I'm praying right, asked myself if He'll really answer, compared my prayer life to others, and felt discouraged about if in this big world my little prayers mattered. What a journey of ups, downs (and a bit of circling) it's been for me!
How about you? I've come to the realization and learnt to embrace the fact that prayer is not merely a destination. It's a journey. It is my Father and I walking together. It is me learning, discovering and growing in life and in prayer, as I pray. And I've discovered that the journey is powerful and meaningful. The journey is worth it. That's why I wrote Knowing Your Rights. It chronicles some of the things I've learnt in this journey of prayer - things I've learnt about answered prayer, about powerful prayer, about purposeful prayer, and more importantly, about the God to whom I pray. If you're struggling in prayer, or if you're not struggling but just want to journey further, I invite you to take the 30 Day Knowing Your Rights journey. And above all, pray. |
