3. Identity as it Relates to God (Spiritual Legacy) This refers to that most important of legacies - a personal and abiding relationship with the Lord. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." (Mk. 12:30) a. What is required to build this? Godly parents who teach, model and reinforce that personal and abiding relationship with Christ. b. How is it achieved? "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Conclusion We rely on God, being mindful that He is our wisdom and strength as we build a strong family legacy. "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Eph. 2:10, NIV)
"And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority." (Col. 2:10, BSB) "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." (Rom. 12:2) "Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.." (Ps. 100:3, NIV) 1. Takeover the Thoughts
"... we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Cor. 10:5, NIV, italics added) 2. Makeover the Actions
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Eph. 2:10, NIV, italics added) Value God's approval by making His Biblical standard your standard. Own and embrace who He says you are. |
