What Is Coaching?

Coaching is a focused, forward-moving process that helps you gain clarity, navigate challenges, and take meaningful steps toward the outcomes you want.
It is a collaborative process—one in which you are supported in thinking more clearly, seeing new possibilities, and moving forward with intention.
Through thoughtful questions, reflection, and structured guidance, coaching helps you:
  • clarify what matters most
  • identify what may be holding you back
  • develop practical steps toward change
  • move forward with greater confidence and direction

What Coaching Is Not: Coaching is not counseling or therapy, and it is not a substitute for mental health treatment. Coaching is appropriate for individuals who are functioning well overall but feel stuck, want greater clarity, or are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Counseling vs. Coaching: While they share some similarities, they serve different purposes.

Counseling:
  • Focuses on healing, mental health, and emotional stabilization
  • May involve diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions
  • Supports individuals experiencing significant distress or difficulty functioning

Coaching:
  • Focuses on clarity, growth, and forward movement
  • Helps you identify goals, navigate challenges, and take action
  • Supports individuals who are ready to move forward in specific areas of life

Is Coaching Right for You?

Coaching may be a good fit if you:
  • feel stuck or want to regain momentum
  • are navigating a transition or decision
  • want clarity in a specific area of your life
  • are ready to take intentional steps toward change
  • desire a thoughtful, supportive space to move forward

If you are experiencing significant emotional distress or mental health concerns that interfere with daily functioning, counseling is recommended. If you are seeking clarity, direction, and support in moving forward, coaching may be the right next step.

Is Coaching for Me?

Coaching is often a meaningful next step if any of the following resonate:
  • navigate stress or anxiety more effectively
  • work through loss or grief
  • improve or better understand relationship dynamics
  • gain clarity in an important decision
  • move forward with a new idea or direction
  • experience greater fulfillment in your marriage or personal life
  • make meaningful changes in your daily life or responsibilities
  • prepare for or move through a life transition
  • grow in your leadership or professional role
If this resonates, a coaching may be right for you.
